Privacy notice
Updated 14 October 2026
What Pit Crew keeps about you, why, and what you can do about it. This is the same notice you see in the app.
Who we are
Pit Crew is an independent project run in the UK. It is free and non-commercial. Your data is never sold, and there are no ads.
What we keep
Your email, name, username, date of birth, home city, bio, the artists and genres you pick, and your settings. Your date of birth is never shown to anyone, and is only used to check you are 13+ and to give under-18s safer settings. Crew chat messages are deleted 30 days after the gig (sooner if you delete your account). Reports you make, and reports about you, are kept for up to 90 days if nothing was wrong and 12 months after the appeal window if action was taken. If you delete your account while a report about you still needs it, we close and lock the account instead: nobody can see it or sign in to it, and we keep only your email, username, name, photo, date of birth, the rules you agreed to and the report. Everything else is deleted straight away, and the rest goes on the same timetable as the report.
What we never ask for
No phone number, no contacts, no location tracking. If you tap Use my location, your phone works out your town once to fill in your home city, using a list of UK towns built into the app; your position is never kept or sent to Pit Crew. The town list contains OS data © Crown copyright and database right 2026. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your email, name and picture with our sign-in service; Pit Crew only uses your email from it.
Who else sees it
Your data is stored with Supabase in London. Ticketmaster is asked for artist names and, for Near you, gigs around your home city. To find where your home city is, we send only its name to postcodes.io (free UK place data), never who you are. For genre charts, we ask Deezer for band photos using only the band’s name. To tell real artists from tribute acts, and to find their Spotify and Apple Music pages, we ask MusicBrainz (a free music encyclopedia) about the act, never about you. If you connect Last.fm, we ask it for your top artists and keep only your Last.fm username, so you can bring them in again. If you connect Spotify, we ask it only for your top artists (never your playlists), and keep Spotify’s sign-in pass, encrypted, so they can be brought in again and refreshed daily. Disconnect either any time in Settings, which deletes what we kept. Links posted in crew chats are checked with Google Web Risk before your crew sees them: only the web address is sent, never who posted it or the rest of the message. When something goes wrong, we keep a short note of the error (never what you typed) for 30 days so we can fix it. The Pit Crew team can see reported messages and profiles to deal with reports, and every look is logged.
Your choices
Anonymous stats are off unless you switch them on. We don’t send news or marketing emails. You can download your data or delete your account at any time in Settings.
